Speaking to People in 2015, he gave an insight into his tough-love parenting style.

“I expect them to do their best,” Shaq said. “My son got a D on a paper one time, and he said he couldn’t find the information. I went off.” Jokingly, O’Neal told his son that when he was a child, he had to go to his neighbor’s house to fetch an encyclopedia while in the current scenario, you have Google and Bing at your disposal always.

During an interview with the Finance Podcast, he explained that he does not believe in giving money to his children. As a result, his children are sometimes angry at him for his beliefs.
