Basketball player-turned-rapper Shaquille O’Neal is famous throughout the world for his kindness and willingness to help people in need. The athlete has several charitable works and has donated to several causes over the years, including his foundation.

The Lakers legend was a guest on The Jimmy Kimmel Show, and Kimmel asked him about his investments as well as his generous acts. 

When asked about the most expensive gift he ever gave to a stranger, he answered that it was some furniture that he had purchased for an old lady. O’Neal spoke about the time he had been at a store to buy a couch and observed an old lady comparing prices.

The athlete decided to pay for the couch. However, when he was informed that the old lady’s house had been burned down, he stepped forward and purchased some other furniture as well for her.

Even though the lady did not want to take such a costly gift, the superstar was not one to hear a no and he furnished the entire house for about $30,000. O’ Neal said:

“When I leave the house, I try to do a good deed. I’m just trying to make people smile, that’s all.”
