On his podcast, Shaq answers a question about anything and everything. Recently, in an episode of his podcast, he was asked about the Lakers head coach vacancy. And Shaq had a definitive response. He said “All the guys that have nominated I want them to get the opportunity… I would like to see Brian Shaw, the head coach.”

Shaq continued, ” He knows the system … and I think yes, and I think he can do the same thing Ty Lue did.” He explained it by saying, “Ty Lue is a players coach and Brian Shaw knows Linda, Kurt, Jeanie knows how the Lakers operate. I would like to see him get it.” Shaq further said, “I would like a legendary franchise to get a close to a legendary coach to bring them back to legendary status.” Shaq ended his argument by saying “I’m LeBron James, I have been there 9,10 times… I know what to do and you ain’t on the same accord with me why would I listen to why would I respect you.. the players need to respect their coaches in tough times

Lat season for the Lakers was nothing short of a disaster across the board. After starting the season as one of the favorites to win the NBA Championship, things went from bad to worse for them. They had an aging roster, which was questioned coming into the season. And the questions proved to be right.

Filling the head coach position has to be the first task of the offseason. Getting it right can do wonders for the team. Last year, they had chemistry issues. If the new coach can solve that roster, construction becomes that much easier. The Lakers need to capitalize on LeBron‘s talent and the years he has left.
