The player Shaq could never trash talk with

Shaquille O’Neal was a dominating figure all the while when he was still playing in the league. This led to some interesting matchups with his opponents.

One of them is Tim Duncan of San Antonio Spurs. Shaquille O’Neal had also mentioned in his book, ‘Shaq Uncut’, how complex trash talking with Duncan was.

He says, “The Spurs won because of Tim Duncan, a guy I could never break. I could talk trash to Patrick Ewing, get in David Robinson’s face, get a rise out of Alonzo Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and then say, ‘Hey, Shaq, watch this shot right here off the glass.’”

The San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers faced off against each other a lot and O’Neal was given the responsibility of guarding Duncan. Shaq faced great difficulties because he just could not get inside Duncan’s head unlike the others he very easily trash talked.

Shaq also mentions the respect he has for Tim Duncan as he refers to him as the ‘laid-back, one-hundred-acre farm don’ while calling himself the ‘loud East coast boss’.
