Shaquille O’Neal is not just an NBA legend but also a philanthropist. He might be known as the Big Diesel who used to break rims for a living, but he has a very soft and kind heart. The four-time NBA champion has helped a lot of people and continues to do so. In a recent QandA session with popular entrepreneur GaryVee, Shaq talked about his annual Shaq-a-Claus event.

Besides being a former NBA player, Shaquille O’Neal is also known for his generosity. Throughout the years, he has organized multiple charity events and has ties with several charity organizations. Similarly, Shaq holds an annual event known as Shaq-a-Clause. During the interview, Shaq stated that about 15 million children don’t get even a single toy on Christmas. Therefore, he arranges to send gifts for such kids every year. Additionally, he also has several events arranged for homeless people.

“I do a lot with the homeless initiative. I do a lot with the children. It’s an alarming stat that 15 million kids a year will wake up on Christmas and not receive one single toy. So I do an event that’s called Shaq-a-Claus and that’s just close to my heart,” said O’Neal.

Furthermore, Shaq talked about how his father taught him to always help people in need whenever possible.

Shaquille O’Neal might not be passing on his wealth to his kids

Shaquille O’Neal has time and again made it clear that his kids will not inherit his wealth unless they work hard for it. The Los Angeles Lakers legend revealed that he has told his kids to get at least two degrees. Only then, will they be able to get a share of their asset. Furthermore, he apparently told his kids that he was the one who was rich, not them.

“My kids are older now. They’re kinda upset with me. Not really upset, but they don’t understand. I tell them all the time. We ain’t rich. I’m rich,” said O’Neal in an appearance on Earn Your Leisure podcast.
