In his recent podcast episode, he called Mother’s Day one of his favorite days. Nischelle Turner started on this by asking everybody how they celebrated Father’s Day last week. Former NBA veteran Dennis Scott said that he enjoyed it very much as he saw his son playing basketball. He also added that he cooked on the grill in the evening and received a box of socks as a gift from his daughter. Shaq said, “Every day is Father’s Day, Nischelle.” He added, “The only holidays I like to celebrate are Mother’s Day because mothers are very underappreciated. Christmas because I want to take in the toys. Birthdays…”

O’Neal mentioned that his kids check up on him but he didn’t want any gifts. His logic was that as men, they protect, provide, and love hence, every day is Father’s Day.

Joe Toney and Lucille O’Neal were Shaquille O’Neal’s parents. Shaq was their first child, but Toney departed when he was barely a baby. It left Lucille raising his kid by herself until “The Sarge” entered his life. Phillip A. Harrison, who became O’Neal’s stepfather, is referred to as “The Sarge.” He was a strict disciplinarian. Harrison taught O’Neal to give his best effort into everything. He prepared him for his eventual career in NBA.
