Government officials are trying their best to try and bring her back to the United States of America. One of the measures put forth by the officials is a swap deal involving Griner and a former US Marine Paul Whelan, who is also currently incarcerated in Russia.
It is not only the officials who are doing their part. The WNBA and various stars from the NBA have shown their support to Griner, and Cherelle, Brittney Griner’s wife, said that such acts are taken well by the basketball superstar.
Cherelle said, “It lets her know she’s not forgotten and like obviously you know, when you’re sitting over there and your country, they haven’t come to your rescue yet, I know that it makes her feel good because she doesn’t want to be forgotten.“
She said this while referring to the measures taken by the league to make people more aware of her situation. The WNBA installed a “BG42” floor decal on all 12 home courts across the league.
