An unfortunate piece of news broke on Saturday that shocked everyone on the internet. At the age of 74, Janet Hill, the mother of NBA Hall of Famer Grant Hill, sadly passed away. At the time of her passing, she was serving as Duke’s trustee emerita. In honor of her, all of the Duke’s flags will be lowered. Many have been inspired by her strong figure. Before this, she owned and ran Alexander & Associates Inc., a company that offers corporate planning, advice, and analysis to directors, executives, and managers.
Between 2006 and 2021, she served on Duke University’s Board of Trustees, inspiring many women to pursue their dreams. Apart from her contributions to society, Calvin Hill was her husband. A great football player and a Super Bowl champion, he will also be remembered for his accomplishments in the sporting world.

Known for his accomplishments on the hardwood, Grant Hill is a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame member. Following this tragic news, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Chris Webber, and other celebrities attended a memorial service for the NBA Hall of Famer’s mother.

In the wake of the tragic news, Hill shared this response that broke the hearts of many people. “She was a force of nature, she was a force for good, a remarkable woman, a remarkable friend, and a remarkable mother,” her son said. “I miss her. I love her. And, by the grace of God, I live for the day to see her again.”

It was her dedication to her life that enabled many women to achieve their dreams in the years of her life. Her reputation was that of a mentor, respected business executive, and a proud mother and wife. As part of the ceremony, former NBA player Chris Webber read a few lines in her honor.
While sharing a story of how she consoled him when Michigan lost to Grant Hill’s team in 1992, he mentioned how she handled the incident. “I’m sitting there sobbing while Grant is holding the trophy, and she comes over and hugs me and consoles me.”
