“Should Probably Get Rid of It”: 23-Year-Old NBA All-Star Splashed His $3.8 Million Cheque to Put Some Money in Elon Musk’s Pocket

With new players drafted every season, the NBA is never short of talent. It is quite fulfilling as a fan to watch young players matchup against legends on the court. The goal is to become the next greatest player in the league. The new point guard for the Indiana Pacers, Tyrese Haliburton is one of the young superstars who seems to be well on his way to achieving this goal.

Haliburton was drafted to the league by the Sacramento Kings in 2020 but then acquired by the Pacers as part of a trade package. His performance this season has proven his value and reliability to his team.

Haliburton’s first-ever NBA all-star selection as an East Conference reserve was well deserved

The Pacers’ star player had his time in the spotlight in his career’s first All-Star game. He put up eighteen points, one rebound, and three assists in his thirteen minutes of playing time.

Outside of the court, the young Pacers guard is having a great time too. He recently appeared on the Knuckleheads podcast, where he spoke about his journey from being a recruit to NBA All-Star, playing in the AAU, and his experience in the NBA so far, amongst other things.

One of the advantages of being a professional player is the money. Tyrese opens up about his first big purchase after his rookie year.

One of the panelists asked him about how he spent the ‘change’ he got in his contract. Haliburton laughed and said he did not have anything major to buy back then, given he had a Jeep from his car deal and a house he rented. So a lot of his expenses were his clothes and the shoes he had always desired.
But since he was living in California at the time, and everyone around was driving a Tesla, so he wanted to get one too.

But given that California is not the player’s permanent residence, he said “I love it [but] in Indy not as practical, I truly should probably get rid of it”
Haliburton is in LA during the summers but spends most of his time in Indiana. Since he signed a car deal in Indiana; his Tesla sits idle in the garage during the winters, while he rides out in his Range Rover.
