Dennis Rodman jersey at a “dingy bar”

James Harden has been seen multiple times at strip clubs and late-night parties. With his weight gain and his game going south, many criticized him for his off-court antics. Harden allegedly spent $1 million at a strip club in Houston, Texas, the club retired his jersey at the club. Something similar happened with Dennis Rodman. However, it was because of his on-court achievements and popularity. Rodman’s father Philander Rodman left his wife and children when the Chicago Bulls legend was a child. He then ran a “dingy bar” in Angeles City, Philippines. During an interview, Philander claimed that he is the real “bad one” between the two.

As a proud father and basketball fan, Philander hung his son’s #91 Bulls jersey and Michael Jordan’s jersey on the bar’s wall. Furthermore, the wall also featured a huge poster of Dennis and various paper clippings of him. According to a 1996 report from the Washington Post, “In the Philippines, Philander seems to have found his niche. This seedy little town, full of night spots with names like the Happy Hooker and the DMZ, has become something of a haven for American military retirees who while away their pensions on cheap beer and cheap women.”

With this, Harden was in the MVP race for a few straight years and won the coveted award in 2018. But his scoring took a huge hit, a 10-point dip in his scoring average, in the 2020-21 season. Many criticized Harden’s lack of work ethic and his late-night parties for his slump. He has been a great addition to the Philadelphia 76ers, however; he is no way near his MVP self.
