The Golden State Warriors suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals. Going into the game, the series was tied at 1-1. However, the Lakers handed them a 127-97 defeat, taking a 2-1 lead in the matchup. If this loss wasn’t enough for the Warriors, popular FS1 host Skip Bayless decided to blast their superstar over a reason that is absurd, to say the least.

Even though Stephen Curry scored 23 points in game 3, leading the Warriors in points, he faced severe criticism from Bayless. Bayless took to Twitter to let out his opinion on Curry for something that isn’t related to the game at all. The veteran journalist called a particular habit of Curry “insufferable”.

Skip Bayless blasts Stephen Curry for chewing his mouthguard

The Warriors were completely outperformed by the Lakers on the court in game 3. Losing a game with a 30-point margin, that too in the playoffs, for a team like the Dubs must be embarrassing. The Lakers showcased a great team effort with three of their players scoring more than 20 points in the game. Anthony Davis dropped 25 points with 13 rebounds and 3 assists, whereas LeBron James registered a solid 21 points with eight assists and an equal number of rebounds. The Warriors on the other hand couldn’t match up to the Lakers. Although they outscored the LA side in the first quarter of the game, they ended up losing the other three.

After this embarrassing loss, Skip Bayless decided to rub some salt in the wound. Specifically concerned with Curry’s mouthguard, Bayless put him on blast on Twitter.

He tweeted, “Steph chewing on that mouthguard always hanging out of his mouth isn’t so cute when the Warriors are getting blown out.” Curry has a habit of chewing on his mouthguard. Although Bayless doesn’t see any value in it, it has become Curry’s trademark style over the years. Bayless added, “It’s just annoying. Sometimes even insufferable.”

Stephen Curry is not just the best shooter in the game, he also has a certain style of playing on the court. Looking away immediately after shooting the ball for a 3, sealing the game at the buzzer, and the fluidity in his movement are just some of the things that make his game visually pleasing for fans. Similarly, Curry is often seen chewing on his mouthguard on the court. Back in 2015, Curry revealed the reason during his appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Show. “It kinda calms me down,” he said, explaining why he chews on his mouthguard.
