NBA all-time great Michael Jordan and golf superstar, Tiger Woods, used to be very close friends. MJ’s obsession with golf gave them the platform to hang out often. But things went south after the golf superstar’s infidelity scandal in 2009. After Tiger Woods’ car crash, the details about his infidelity started to come out. Moreover, it shocked fans around the world. Then Woods took a break from the sport.

There were reports suggesting that the friendship between Jordan and Woods broke after the scandal. Interestingly, there were perceptions that MJ and some other friends of Woods were a bad influence on him.

Tiger Woods immediately denied the claims that Jordan or any other friends had a bad influence on him. However, his advisor and former lawyer, John Merchant,?do not think so. As per Merchant, Woods learned to womanize like a pro from his friend Michael Jordan. So he didn’t want the golf legend to be friends with MJ.

“I told him, ‘Stay away from that son of a b—- [Jordan], because he doesn’t have anything to offer to the f—ing world in which he lives except playing basketball,” Merchant said.

Reports also suggested that Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods used to gamble together. Now, NBA fans don’t need an introduction to Jordan and his gambling. Even during his playing days, it was very well known to everyone. As per reports, Woods would gamble in an ultra-exclusive V.I.P casino in Las Vegas. And sometimes it would just be Jordan, Woods, and another guy who would be the only people in the place and they gambled. Also, the golf superstar would play big.

Interestingly, it was not just MJ and Woods. There is a third close friend in this group. And it is NBA legend, Charles Barkley. The reports say that whenever Woods visited Las Vegas, he would be always with Jordan and Barkley. Merchant adds, ?Are?they?his black role models? You?ve got to be kidding me.?

However, Barkley denied the claims that he was a bad influence on Woods. He also said that he only hung out with him thrice a year. And he didn’t know what Woods was doing in his private life. The 76ers legend also said that he didn’t know why Woods stopped talking to him and the Bulls legend after the revelations in 2009. However, he added that Tiger’s wife didn’t want him to be around any of his friends. Also, MJ and Barkley are no longer on speaking terms.
