Stephen Curry Finally Admits Harsh Reality on Kevin Durant and Draymond Green’s Infamous On-Court Spat

Apart from being one of the best players in the world, Stephen Curry is known for his calmness. The Golden State Warriors guard is rarely seen indulging in spats with other players. However, he has recently given fans some insight into one of the biggest spats in GSW history. 

Safe to say, the Warriors roster consisted of superstars players, like Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson.

Although the team chemistry of the Warriors is unmatched, one infamous incident made headlines. During a regular-season game, Durant and Draymond Green indulged in a verbal spat. In a recent interview, Steph Curry reveals what went through his mind during that time.

Stephen Curry talks about the Durant and Green spat

One of the most infamous moments in the recent history of the Warriors happened in 2018. During a regular-season game, Draymond Green called out Kevin Durant from the sidelines. This led to some tensions between the two players. And although Green played a huge role in recruiting Durant in 2016, his spat with KD became one of the reasons he left.

Warriors leader Stephen Curry recently opened up on the spat. According to him, that was the moment he knew Durant would leave the team.

Speaking to The Ringer, Curry said, “That moment was probably the one where it’s clear that it isn’t a foregone conclusion that he’ll be back next year.

A few months after the spat, Curry received a text from Durant saying he wants to leave. And the inevitable happened. Kevin Durant left the Golden State Warriors and joined the Brooklyn Nets the following summer.

Is the spat one of the reasons why Durant left?

Kevin Durant played a huge role in the NBA titles that the Warriors won during his time. He averaged 25.8 points, 5.4 assists, and 7.1 rebounds in his 3 three seasons in Golden State.

During an appearance on ESPN’s First Take, Durant was asked whether the spat influenced him to leave or not. He thought for a while before answering. He said, “Definitely. For sure, I’m not gonna lie about it.
