NBA Finals have been off to a great start. The Boston Celtics defeated the Golden State Warriors 120-108 in the first game on Thursday night. It was an upset of sorts as they favored Golden State to win the game. They even had a double-digit lead going into the fourth quarter, but then everything changed. Stephen Curry led all scorers with 34 points.

Led by 26 points from Al Horford and 24 points by Jaylen Brown, the Celtics outscored the Warriors 40-16 in the last quarter. They turned a double-digit deficit into a double-digit lead in 8 minutes. The media next day went all over the Warriors for “choking” the game as much as Boston made an all-time comeback. But it seems Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is not perturbed by it.

Steph Curry had a simple four-word message to the world and possibly to the Boston Celtics. He said, “There’s really no panic.” Steph and the Warriors have been here before. This is their sixth final in eight years. They have the experience and veterans to make a comeback in this series. Whether will they be able to do so remains to be seen?

Contrasting paths to the NBA Finals

Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors took contrasting roads to the Finals. In the Eastern Conference Boston swept the Kevin Durant-led Brooklyn Nets in the first round. But after that, they played two consecutive seven-game series against the Bucks and the Miami Heat.

Against the defending champions Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo, Boston would make a comeback from being down 3-2 in the series. Though it should be noted that Bucks’s Khris Middleton was out for the entire series. Against the Jimmy Butler-led Miami Heat, they would win the game seven on the road in Miami.

The Warriors had a far easy road to the Finals in comparison. None of their series went beyond six games. They would defeat the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic in five games in the Western Conference Finals.

An all important game 2

Game 2 has suddenly become a lot more important for both teams. Golden State would look to even the series before embarking for Boston for the next two games, whereas Boston would look to steal another game in San Francisco before trying to finish the series back in Boston.
