Amid all the blockbuster trades that materialized this week, Lakers Nation markedly celebrated the Russell Westbrook trade to the Utah Jazz. However, along with the celebrations came disheartening reflections backed by staunch criticism. The 2017 NBA MVP came under major scrutiny from all fronts. But when things got out of control, Mrs Westbrook had to step in to defend her husband from the wrath of the NBA world. Nina Westbrook passionately defended her 9x All-Star husband on various forums and retaliated against certain insensitive comments from some media heads.

In addition, she recently took to her social media to share a humbling thought in light of the recent turbulence in her family’s life. Meanwhile, Stephen Curry‘s wife and popular TV personality, Ayesha Curry issued a bold response to Nina Westbrook’s post.

The week of the NBA trade deadline put Russell Westbrook in the spotlight as he took center stage as one of the most polarizing prospects on the trade market. Subsequently, after getting traded to the Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers fans and media heads reflected on the guard’s disastrous stint in LA. However, things seemingly got out of control when a reporter from ESPN metaphorically compared the former Laker to a ‘vampire’. 

Like any prideful wife, Nina Westbrook issued major pushback to these insensitive comments. However, fast forward to today, after the dramatic episode between Nina Westbrook and the NBA world, things have somewhat cooled down, amid introspection and clarity.

 Meanwhile, Nina Westbrook recently took to her social media and shared a humbling thought, seemingly guiding her husband and their family in these trying times. Soon after, Ayesha Curry, reacted to Nina Westbrook’s post with her own thoughts. On her Instagram stories, Ayesha responded by boldly supporting Nina’s words. After reposting Nina’s post, she wrote, “That Part”.

Both Ayesha and Nina constantly suffer the brunt of the NBA world due to their husbands’ status’ in the league. Needless to say, a shoulder of support from someone under similar circumstances goes a long way, even though Ayesha Curry doesn’t witness her husband being criticized to the extent as Nina’s husband.

Russell Westbrook gets compared to a ‘vampire’ 

After the blockbuster trade of Westbrook to the Jazz broke the headlines, many pundits and media heads had a field day. Likewise, ESPN reporter and NBA insider, Dave McMenamin, appeared on ESPN on Thursday morning and shared some appalling bits surrounding the trade.

After analyzing the trade, McMenamin revealed, “And as one source told me, ‘you remove a vampire from the locker room.’ That meaning the vampire sucks the blood out of the locker room. Russell Westbrook moves on.”

Consequently, enraged and emotional, Nina Westbrook went online and clapped back at those scathing remarks on social media. She said, “This is just sick ESPN… Russell is no vampire. This is also slander because anyone who knows anything knows that this couldn’t be further from the truth….I guess I will prepare myself to explain to my 5 year old that his dad is not actually a vampire.”
