When is Klay Thompson returning?

Over the past couple of seasons, the Warriors were by-standers, as other teams raced ahead of them. Unsurprisingly, Curry was their best player, but did not get the desired support. Other injuries didn’t help Golden State’s cause either, with experienced players on the sidelines often. This left the team in a hapless situation, and Curry was fending for himself. In a positive sign, however, Klay Thompson is not too far away from returning to match fitness.

According to coach Steve Kerr, he sees light at the end of the tunnel. He said that though unsure of the exact date; he hopes Thompson will return soon. The 31-year-old himself was optimistic about the comeback, recently stating that he sees himself returning ‘early next season’. If everything goes to plan, a ‘Splash brothers’ reunion is not too far away.

The Warriors’ No.30 recently joined ESPN for a pre-season interview. Speaking about the Warriors setup, he detailed the feelings ahead of the Klay Thompson return. Here are the excerpts. “Kevon Looney said it the other day. He [Klay] is confident, he’s energetic, he’s in a good space mentally knowing that this has been a long two years for him, man. We’re not gonna keep reminding him how long it’s been, but he understands the work that’s ahead of him and the opportunity that’s ahead of him, to come back to the Klay that we all know and love.”

Curry also detailed the importance of Thompson’s presence in the team. “I know that’s what his expectations are, so he’s put in the work and it was great to have him around all year even though he wasn’t playing. Once we get back to training camp, it’ll be right back at the end of his rehab progress that we can help him get over the hump, and get him back out there on the court.”
