Stephen Curry has been on top of the NBA after his championship triumph. The Warriors All-Star had a legacy-defying run, carrying the Bay to their fourth title in eight years. As one of the biggest athletes in the world, the Baby-Faced Assassin earns big. However, it looks like being the hero of California comes at a hefty price.

Curry is the face of the Golden State Warriors. The two-time MVP is the biggest reason they ascended to great heights. Playing as one of the best players, the Bay won 4 championships with him. Winning his first-ever Finals MVP was a true testament to his time with Golden State. However, having a huge contract didn’t go his way.

San Francisco weighing heavy even on Stephen Curry

Back in 2017, Steph had signed a fresh deal worth $201 million. In his first season with KD, the Warriors rose to the top as champions. Curry was one of the highest-paid players and made $34 million that season. However, the 4-time champ was bombarded by the expenses in California. At the end of the day, when the pay cheque came, the Chef made less than half his money.

In the 2017-18 season, Steph’s salary total came up to $34,682,550. But what Curry got in hand was merely 44% of his earnings. The biggest of the expenses came with federal taxes as Curry had to pay a whopping $11 million. So despite paying a lump sum of money, how does Stephen Curry make so much?

Along with being one of the best players, Steph is also the most marketable. His endorsement deals form a major part of his revenue. In 2020, the All-Star made over $40 million through endorsements alone. Being the three-point king of the NBA surely comes with its perks. Curry is the face of brands like Under Armour, Chase, and FTX. Hence, despite the drastic living cost, Curry makes all and more back through these various brands.
