However, American doctors were concerned regarding Steph’s habit. A dental expert once said, “When he’s chewing it like that, he’s destroying the integrity of the mouth guard. So it’s not going to be beneficial for him, it’s not going to protect him properly.”
In addition to this, the expert also talked about the danger of bacteria entering Steph’s mouth while he puts back his mouth guard during a game.
Interestingly enough, it seems Curry does care about hygiene. Despite all his antics with the mouth guard, Curry hates it when people sneeze without covering their mouths. This was revealed during a Golden State Warriors Q and A session on Facebook.

Interestingly enough, during an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show, Steph explained that chewing his mouth guard calms him down. Moreover, this habit of his really kicks in before free throws.
