Kaepernick sent headlines around the world with his decision to kneel when the National Anthem played. The former 49ers Quarterback did these as a mark of protest for the growing injustice done to minorities. Curry said, “I love that there’s freedom of speech and he can stand for what he believes in.”

Interestingly, the 4 time NBA champion once talked about the importance of speaking out on social issues. He said, “If I say something, I can tweet it out and the whole world can read it. You can own that, more so than generations of the past where maybe you had to go through different channels.”

Curry further added, “So there’s more eyeballs and ears around what we have to say, and we have an opportunity and a platform to speak for those who can’t speak for themselves.” Safe to say, he has kept his word as the Warriors star regularly talks about social issues on his social media or during interviews.

Stephen Curry once made headlines after skipping the White House invitation

Winning the NBA title is a matter of pride for any team. Along with the fame and satisfaction of winning a title, it gives players an opportunity to visit the President of the United States of America in the White House.

Curry and the Warriors team famously declined the invitation to visit the White House when Donald Trump was the President in 2017. Moreover, their actions urged the President to release a statement.

The official Twitter handle of Donald Trump sent out a tweet suggesting that following Curry’s hesitation to visit the White House, the invitation for the team is rescinded.
