Stephen Curry, Who Recently Completed His College Degree, Was Forced to Graduate to Avoid Embarrassment From Daughter Riley

Stephen Curry has publicly admitted in an interview that he didn’t delay his graduation from Davidson College in North Carolina any further to avoid getting embarrassed by his eldest daughter Riley. In fact, the Golden State Warriors superstar ascribed the credit for motivating him to hurriedly finish his course this year to his 9-year-old daughter. Notably, Stephen Curry received his graduate degree from Davidson in mid-May this year.
Stephen Curry recently led the Golden State Warriors to secure their fourth Larry O’Brien trophy in eight years. The Dubs guard bagged his first-ever Finals MVP after dominating the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals. However, Curry made headlines before winning his fourth ring for his accomplishments outside the court.

Curry had enrolled in the Spring semester at Davidson to finish his remaining semester. The 2016 unanimous MVP had been doing homework amid dominating world-class defenders at the highest level. As a result, Curry received his Bachelor’s degree in sociology in May while preparing for the Western Conference Finals.

Meanwhile, Stephen Curry revealed that he didn’t further delay his graduation coursework to avoid being embarrassed by his daughter Riley. “My oldest daughter is getting older,” said Curry in an interview. “I wanted to make sure I didn’t graduate the same year she did.”

The entire press crew started laughing after hearing the two-time MVP’s explanation. Incidentally, Curry’s daughter Riley is currently nine years old. Therefore, it would’ve taken her a while to overtake her father.
Meanwhile, Curry also revealed the real reason behind finishing his degree. “I knew what I signed up for when I went to Davidson,” he said. “I made a promise to coach [Bob] McKillop and my family that when I left school back in ’09 that that would be accomplished — and it will be soon. Hopefully sooner than later.”
Curry’s dedication to gender equality

Stephen Curry has stressed his dedication to achieving gender equality in sports. In fact, his graduation thesis is also based on gender equality in sports through a sociological lens.
Therefore, Curry’s degree will certainly aid him in progressing toward his goal. A father of two daughters, the four-time world champion intends to leave the next generation a more equal society.
