The Golden State Warriors are in for a big upgrade this week. With reports of Klay Thompson getting back against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Bay is all ready to go. However, for Steve Kerr, he is going to have to make some tough calls on the rotations with Thompson’s return. While addressing that, Kerr said he is going to take a page out of his coach, Phil Jackson’s book.
Kerr has come up as one of the best coaches in the modern NBA. However, that wouldn’t have been possible unless he had the right players around and the best guidance possible. When he played for the Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan, Kerr was under one of the best coaches in all of basketball. Headed by Phil Jackson, he sure learned a lot from his former coach.

Now with the return of Klay Thompson, he plans to use some of Jackson’s teachings to figure out the rotations.

Steve Kerr plans to use Phil Jackson’s tactics with Warriors
The Bay is coming in hot, with Thompson returning for the first time since 2019. However, with them having the best record already, figuring the rotations will be a big task. However, Kerr doesn’t seem worried as he learned an important lesson from Phil Jackson.
Kerr spoke on his rotation plans, saying: “I learned a great lesson from Phil Jackson when I played for him. You just randomly throw a guy onto the floor before he can languish, and I know I’ve probably created some angst among our fans over the years by putting random guys into crunch time, but I totally believe it’s important not only for the player but for the team. What I learned from Phil is that when you do that, it keeps everybody engaged, but also guys are ready when their time does come, and inevitably their time comes.”

With Klay likely to take the starting role right away, it will hamper minutes for many fellow players. Gary Payton and Jordan Poole could see reduced minutes in this scenario. However, with Kerr’s approach, the game will determine the way things go for the roster.
The Bay is already a solid team with their players and Kerr has done a great job so far. Hence, questioning his methods isn’t the right call. He is one of the best coaches out there who is aware of what he has to do. Moreover, putting in the lessons from one of the best coaches ever can never go wrong. However, there is no guarantee of how things will turn out.
