A renowned NBA journalist recently questioned Draymond Green as a star. The power forward has long proven to be the Golden State Warriors’ heartbeat. He has also been a crucial component in their recent success, assisting the team to add four NBA championships to their trophy cabinet. However, ESPN’s Zach Lowe raised the question of whether Green is a star or a beneficiary of being flanked by two of the greatest shooters of all time.

True, he has had the luxury of playing alongside two human snipers in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. However, questioning his status as a star means dismissing all of his innumerable accomplishments on the floor, which have unfathomable significance for the Warriors. As Lowe questioned Green’s star status, an unlikely individual rushed to his defense.

In his recent ESPN column, Zach Lowe reflected on Green’s tenure with the Warriors. While doing so, he questioned if he was a certified star or simply enjoying the sweet taste of success by having two excellent shooters by his side.

Seeing this, Portland Trailblazers star Jusuf Nurkic came to Green’s defense, urging the journalist to stop the disrespect.

This says a lot about Nurkic’s professionalism. His tweet demonstrates that he will not back down from giving respect where it is due, regardless of who is on the receiving end. Furthermore, he understands how vital the four-time NBA champion has been to the Warriors’ dynasty.

True, Green is no longer the defensive hound and walking triple-double machine he once was. His play, though, instills a burst of fire into the Warriors’ game. Furthermore, he has always been a passionate and vocal leader for the Warriors. It’s perhaps impossible to envision what this team would be like if Draymond Green wasn’t there.
