“Surpassing You Too, Lil Bro”: NBA Twitter Divided After Celtics Legend Paul Pierce Delivers Controversial Opinion on Kevin Durant and Jayson Tatum

Kevin Durant was surrounded and rendered ineffective today by the Boston Celtics. This match was capped off by Jayson Tatum rising above Durant to put a sledgehammer to his hopes. His performances have been abysmal, to say the least. Fans of his have been saying that he will blow up. But, that has come a cropper. He has been individually sterile and hasn’t provided anything to the team.
Fans are now comparing Tatum to Durant. Tatum’s performances have been clutch this entire playoff series. Not only that, he has performed well and put an impetus to a team which was down in the dumps.

Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce has now weighed on this. He has put out a tweet saying that Tatum has surpassed Kevin Durant in the eyes of the NBA hierarchy. Fans had mixed reactions over this tweet of the 2008 NBA winner.

Pierce won the 2008 NBA Finals with the Boston Celtics. He has now put the above opinion on Twitter. This has led to some mixed reactions, at least. Durant is, after all been one of the best. Hence, some fans will be defensive about this tweet. Meanwhile, Celtics fans are whole heartily agreeing. Some fans are saying that Tatum has already surpassed even Pierce. For a third game in a row, Durant struggled against the physicality, length and creativity of a Celtics’ defense that’s had every answer to the test of KD and swallowed the Nets to take an 3-0 series lead with a 109-103 victory at Barclays Center — an arena that sounded more like Boston’s TD Garden.

Everyone was swarming Durant. Brooklyn was neutered the entire game. Irving, too, didn’t provide anything. Bruce Brown and Blake Griffin were better than them in this match.

Meanwhile, Tatum is on a high right now. He scored 39 points to extend the lead over the Nets. He has been an absolute game winner for the Celtics. Others, like Jaylen Brown, supported him well too. Durant was, even, scared to take a shot against Tatum.
Piece may just be right. We might just be seeing Tatum surpassing Durant this season.Nets, for now, look no close to coming back and reversing this deficit. For Durant, that is a sledgehammer to his legacy.
