It came as a huge shock to many as Morant was suspended eight games a few weeks back by the NBA for a similar incident. The point guard is one of the best young talents in the league with massive potential. So, a lot of people were disappointed and are concerned about his future including rival star Draymond Green. He recently talked about the whole situation along with commissioner Adam Silver’s statement.

Draymond Green could not understand the actions of Ja Morant

Draymond Green is back in full swing with his podcast ‘The Draymond Green Show’ after elimination in the playoffs. In the latest episode of the show, the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year gave his thoughts about the Ja Morant controversy. Green started off by speaking about Adam Silver’s reaction to the issue.

He said, “I saw Adam Silver speaking. Adam Silver looked crushed! He sounded crushed. I know he is.” The forward noted that he knows Silver is disappointed because he has always been a players’ commissioner. He added the situation has put Silver in a very tough spot. Also, Green was distressed there could be a “substantial” penalty for Ja this time.

The four-time NBA All-Star said that he is neither going to slate the 2022 MIP nor condone his actions. However, he could not fathom Morant’s activity on social media. Green stated, “I just don’t understand why they’re on Instagram Live so much. I just don’t get it. Hey by the way, once you were in trouble the first time on Instagram Live, you guys probably should stay away from Instagram Live.”

He added that the two-time NBA All-Star was irresponsible given the huge number of youngsters following him on social media.

Adam Silver’s comments on the incident

Adam Silver was asked about the Ja Morant incident ahead of the NBA draft lottery. According to a report from Bleacher Report, Silver said, “Honestly I was shocked when I saw this weekend, that video. Now we’re in the process of investigating it, and we’ll figure out exactly what happened to the best we can.”

Following Silver’s comments, Morant broke his silence with a statement where he took full accountability for his actions. As the 2023-24 regular season will only begin in October, the league has enough time to investigate the issue carefully before giving a verdict.
