Teenage Andrew Wiggins, Once Nicknamed ‘Junior Jordan’, Revealed Michael Jordan-Esque Moment as Memorable

Andrew Wiggins has turned out to be a gem for the Golden State Warriors. He was struggling with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Warriors acquired him in 2020 and sent D’Angelo Russell, Omari Spellman, and Jacob Evans the other way. Golden State was criticized for acquiring him. The pundits and the fans are rethinking their reactions now.

His postseason performances have been electric. Wiggins and the Warriors are now in the driver’s seat against a defensively stout Boston Celtics team. But does anyone know that Wiggins was called “Junior Jordan” when he was growing up?

Wiggins’ 8th-grade yearbook is recently doing the rounds on social media. It reveals that in his hometown of Toronto, he was nicknamed “Junior Jordan”. He had also mentioned his best moment was doing a windmill dunk for the first time.

Michael Jordan was very famous for doing one too during his prime. One of his most iconic ones was in the 1987 Dunk Contest, which he won. Wiggins might not be the next Jordan, but he can still help the Warriors win the NBA title this year.

In game-5, he led the team to a 104–94 victory with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Even though he shot exceptionally well from mid-range, he missed all six of his attempts from the three-point territory. However, he still managed to finish with a field goal percentage of 52.2 percent.

He performed admirably in the last game, scoring 17 points on 41.2 percent of his shots. His +/- ratio was +20, highlighting the defensive efforts he made in the previous game. He finished with a respectable +12 in this game as well.

Throughout the entire series, Wiggins has been a crucial component for the Warriors. In game-3 against the Dallas Mavericks, he scored the most points. To highlight his overall accomplishments, he scored 27 points and had a +22 next.

He shot 45.8 percent from the floor and averaged 9.4 rebounds and 18.4 points per game. Jayson Tatum, the standout player for the Celtics, has been hindered in this series thanks in large part to his exceptional defense.
