Charles Barkley is undoubtedly one of the most famous figures in the NBA world. Apart from his MVP award-winning career, Barkley’s role as an analyst and commentator has also contributed remarkably to his fame. At the heart of Sir Charles’ success as an analyst is his ability to call a spade a spade. However, this undaunted honesty of the 1993 MVP landed him in a feud with his former best friend and NBA icon Michael Jordan. The once warm friendship turned bitter rivalry is one of the most talked about sagas in the hoops community. Recently, Chuckster once again threw light on the issue.

Charles Barkley clarified his issues with Michael Jordan

Charles Barkley used to be the best of Michael Jordan. However, the camaraderie ended when Barkley criticized Jordan’s executive skills as the owner of the Charlotte Hornets. As MJ did not expect this sort of critique from his best friend, he called Barkley for one last time in 2012 and called it quits. Though it has been a decade since the unfortunate phone call, Chuck has recently been weighing in on the episode. This time, Barkley has taunted his long-time rival Skip Bayless, while touching up on his beef with MJ.

In his latest appearance on the Dan Patrick Show, Charles Barkley and the host discussed the former’s relationship with Michael Jordan. “I didn’t say he wasn’t a good owner. I said he didn’t have good enough people around him,” Barkley said. As pointed out by the host, Chuck had told Jordan that he was surrounded by ‘yes men.’

“I said that and it was true and he went ballistic. One of the reasons I hate reporters, to be honest with you, guys like Skip Bayless and people like that. You can’t tell the guys that they like and dislike, that ain’t right. You should be fair. Just because me and Mike were great friends, I don’t give him a hall pass. I have been straightforward and honest with anybody I have given an opinion with. In my 23 years, I never played favorites. There is nobody can say Charles don’t like this guy. I have been fair to everybody,” Sir Charles added.

Barkley’s feud with Skip Bayless

According to Barkley, Skip Bayless has not been fair in his criticisms, unlike Sir Charles. Rather, as pointed out by Barkley, Bayless goes on to reveal his likes and dislikes about certain athletes on live TV. Barkley does not endorse the idea of Skip Bayless being personal in his critique of other players.
