The Golden State Warriors roster received some priceless advice on how to remain at the top of their game for a prolonged period of time from 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, just before the tennis legend would clinch his second Shanghai Rolex Masters title and become the oldest player ever to do so.

Roger Federer is arguably the greatest player ever to pick up a tennis racket. He has shown the world the true definition of domination mixed with class and flair. Together with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, Federer makes up the Big Three in tennis.

The trio has won almost every single major tennis tournament in the world for more than a decade now. Therefore, he certainly is the right guy to offer insight to the newly crowned Warriors team on how to defend their championship in the future seasons.

Stephen Curry and the Warriors meet Roger Federer in Shanghai

The Warriors spent their day clicking pictures and chatting with Roger Federer before their preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Shanghai. Federer was in town for the 2017 Shanghai Rolex Masters.

The former world no. 1 had a great time socializing with the champions of the basketball world. In fact, Roger also revealed his fascination for the NBA during his childhood years. Afterwards, he offered some key counsel on how to sustain their dominance on the court.

?Our team really enjoyed the pre-game visit with Roger,? the Warriors’ Head Coach Steve Kerr said later on, ?Roger is one of the greatest winners in the history of sports and we thought it would be valuable for our players to hear what has kept him sharp, motivated and at the top of his game after so much success. Federer conveyed that the appreciation is mutual, ?This is highly unusual for me to go into the locker room of another sport, really, especially before a game and this far away from the States, here in Shanghai“.

The Warriors look for their fourth championship

The Golden State Warriors have come a long way since 2017. They have won one more chip and lost the 2019 finals to the Toronto Raptors. Furthermore, the MVP of the 2017 and 2018 finals, Kevin Durant is no longer on the roster.
