Russell Westbrook bids adieu to Washington

Even though the trade cannot be made official until August 6, Westbrook took to his social media to thank the city of Washington D.C. In addition, he thanked all the staff and said that it was an honor playing for such an organization.

The ‘Brodie’ had some great moments with the Wizards in his single season. Playing alongside Bradley Beal, he led them to the playoffs in a dramatic comeback late in the season. Russ hit the game winning three pointer in their enthralling matchup against the Brooklyn Nets.

Moreover, it was in the Wizards’ jersey that he achieved the feat of most triple doubles in NBA history. He made the organization popular as soon as he came in. Teammates had nothing but praise for Russ. He played really well alongside Bradley Beal, showing that he can coexist with another star in suitable conditions. He averaged 22 points in his tenure with the Wizards.

Now, Russ seeks out another chapter in his NBA career with his hometown of Los Angeles.

Can the ‘Brodie’ win a championship with the Lakers?

Russell Westbrook has achieved everything and more in his NBA career. However, one thing that has evaded him is an NBA title. The former MVP has not been in an NBA finals since 2012. Notable, the 2012 one was against LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

But now, things are shaping up for him. Playing alongside arguably two of the top 10 players in the league, Russ has a big chance of adding that ring. Westbrook is known as a facilitator and can instantly impact the Lakers this coming season. Lakers ranked 18th in points made off assist last season. However, with Russ, that won’t be the case anymore.

Moreover, he knows how to work with stars. We have seen that with Kevin Durant and Paul George. Westbrook does not mind sacrificing his game. He prides himself on being a competitor and wants to win. Now, he has this golden chance and what better way than to do it for his hometown?
