The Memphis Grizzlies have managed to hold their ground despite their star player not being in the rotation. It has been about two weeks since Ja Morant has not been seen in a Grizzlies jersey, yet they are still in the second spot in the Western Conference. After missing out on six games for Memphis, Morant finally broke his silence on the infamous incident that led to his suspension. However, fans weren’t too pleased with the 23-year-old’s response.

Ja Morant has been in the middle of accusations after he allegedly flashed a gun in a club. This was after the allegations of firearms and violence had been piling up on him, leading the star to take drastic measures. The 2x All-Star sat down with a former NBA star and opened up about the incident.

The 6’3 point guard deactivated all his social media and distanced himself from the team after his suspension. It was also reported that he was sent to rehab. But to face the music, Morant sat down with Jalen Rose to address all the allegations that have been levied against him over the past few weeks.

Rose asked Morant about the firearm, leading the Grizzlies star to give a statement. Morant said, “The gun wasn’t mine. It’s not who I am. I don’t condone any type of violence. I take full responsibility for my actions.”

However, fans were not on board as they did not believe a word that Morant said. One fan commented, “That boy need an Oscar.”

While another fan commented, “Ja can read a teleprompter fast asf no way he said that himself.”

Ja Morant has been at the center of criticism and scrutiny for the past few weeks. Apart from the firearm incident in the nightclub, there was another moment reportedly involving a firearm that took place outside the Pacers arena.

Then the reports of Morant allegedly getting into a physical altercation with a 17-year-old also surfaced. Controversies have followed the rising superstar and could potentially prove to be career-ending.

As for his return to the team, the league has suspended Morant for eight games without pay. This suspension will cover the six games he has already missed. So, he’ll most likely be suiting up to face the Dallas Mavericks on March 20.
