The Los Angeles Lakers seemed to be engaged in trade conversations this entire offseason. They were trying to see what they can get for Russell Westbrook, but were unable to find a trade that was good for them. However, a report came out that suggested that the Lakers rejected a trade idea this summer. And LA fans are rejoicing that the LeBron James-led Lakers did not go for the trade.
The Lakers went into the offseason to find a solution to their problems after a disappointing 2021-22 season. They were actively trying to see what they can get for Russell Westbrook. But their unwillingness to add their two draft picks meant that they did not find any good offers.

One team that the Lakers were in talks constantly was the Utah Jazz. They had already acquired Patrick Beverley from the Jazz and were looking to get more assets. Especially with the Jazz undergoing a full rebuild mode.

But the Lakers rejected an idea that was floated by the Jazz. The idea was that the Lakers will send their 2027 and 2029 1st-round picks for Bojan Bogdanovic, Mike Conley, Rudy Gay and a 2023 pick. This trade would have put the Lakers over the salary cap limit and they would have a huge luxury tax bill.
