Kobe Bryant shared a special bond with Melo. They were more than just fellow basketball players. They were more like family. When he went out of league and probably hit his rock bottom, Melo credited one person to get him out of that situation: Kobe Bryant.

After Kobe’s death Melo spoke about his relationship with Kobe and how affected he was after his death. “Our friendship and relationship was deeper than basketball,” Anthony said. “It was family. It was friendship. Basketball was the last piece of connective tissue between us two.”

“At that point, everything went numb, dark,” Anthony said. “Basketball for me was the furthest thing on my mind. I had to pull myself back in and check back in emotionally,” Anthony said. “Because I wasn’t there.”

Melo was affected badly and even missed the next game where the Trail Blazers faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers. He paid his tribute to the ‘Mamba’ in an Instagram post and described his special relationship.

Both Anthony and Bryant were family friends. Even after Kobe’s death, Melo and his wife ensure that they are there for Vanessa Bryant and Kobe’s other daughters.

The Special bond between Vanessa Bryant and La La Anthony

La La Anthony continues to be one of the closest friends to the Bryant family. Be it celebrating birthdays or any occassion, both Vanessa and La La are there for each other.

Anthony recently talked to the People magazine. When asked about her relationship with Vanessa Bryant, La La told, “I talk to [Vanessa] every day. I talk to her every single day. And I just always say, ‘Continue to send her great energy and pray for her.'”

He added, “That’s important and just trying to be a great friend. But when you’re friends with somebody, you don’t have to try, you just do. Good friends are hard to find. So when you find them, you hang on to them no matter what.”

“So it’s great that during this time we’ve been able to stay connected and I only have one child, but our kids have been able to stay connected,”

Kobe Bryant had a big influence on Carmelo Anthony’s life, and both their families also share a special bond. After Kobe’s tragic death, Melo and his family have always been there for the Bryant family and will continue to do so.
