Canelo Alvarez made his much-awaited return to the middleweight division. And he emerged victorious in the trilogy matchup between Gennady Golovkin and remained the undisputed champ of the world. Even Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry was impressed with the victory and he interacted with Alvarez after the fight.

The 12-round match started with Canelo dominating in the early round but Golovkin came into his own late in the match. However, this wasn’t enough, as Canelo emerged victorious with a unanimous decision. The judges scored the fight 116-112, 115-113, and 115-133 in Canelo’s favor.

This brought an end to the trilogy between Canelo and ‘GGG’. The first two were highly controversial, and the fights drew a mixture of reactions from fans. The first one resulted in a split draw and in the second fight, Canelo Alvarez scored a majority decision.

Stephen Curry calls Canelo Alvarez the best after trilogy win

Golden State Warriors?superstar Stephen Curry was also in attendance at the fight. He was impressed with what he saw, and he called Canelo the best and the champ. Canelo returned the favor by calling Curry the best.

Curry even posted a post on Instagram praising Canelo. He captioned, “So much respect @canelo?#nogolfnolife Champ x Champ ????”.

Alvarez started the fight really well as he took control of the fight and kept moving against him. The veteran Gennady Golovkin could only throw a jab at times and he failed to land any meaningful punches. Meanwhile, the younger Alvarez kept the scoreboard ticking as he worked his body.

Golovkin started showing sing of life late in the fight, but Alvarez did not back down. He continued to work the body, and he outworked Golovkin. Many fans expected the scorecard to show a wide margin of victory, but it turned out to be close in the end.

With this win, Canelo Alvarez bounced back from a disappointing loss against Dmitry Bivol in May. There are no reports on the next opponent for Alvarez but he has impressed in this fight. Even Stephen Curry was happy to see Alvarez return to winning ways.
