“The LeBron Effect”: NBA Twitter Melts Down after Former Lakers Star Rated Above Russell Westbrook on NBA 2K

The Los Angeles Lakers camp is in all sorts of places at the moment. After getting the momentum with a four game winning streak, the Lakers are back to where they started the season. They blew yet another 14 point lead in their loss to the Sacramento Kings to fall to .500. Notably, new comer Russell Westbrook has struggled to make his mark in recent games. And now it seems that even NBA 2K is going after Russ and the Lakers.

Westbrook came in as the third star in this Laker roster. While he has shown his true abilities on multiple occasions, recent games are a different story. The former league MVP  has struggled to score. Russ has failed to be the star next to LeBron James, who has been on fire this season.

Hence, his rating on NBA 2k took a drop. However, it became bitter as a former Laker got a higher rating that Brodie.

Kyle Kuzma takes over Russell Westbrook

With the system of NBA 2K, follows the live rating system. It updates ratings in accordance with real time performances of players. Hence, with Westbrook struggling, the Laker guard has his rating at 81. On the other hand, former Laker Kyle Kuzma took a jump to 82. This got twitter going.

During the launch of the game back in October 2021, Russ started off with an 86 overall. However, since then he has only received downgrades in his rating. With his current poor run, the Laker star further dropped to a rating and sits at 81. Over the course of the last three games, Russ is putting up just 8 points per game while shooting under 30%. He has clearly struggled and will need to figure things out for the Lakers to win.

Since his move away from the Lakers, Kuzma is thriving. He has been putting up big numbers for the Washington WIzards and has been a crucial piece. The forward has a double double in 3 of his last 5 games and scored over 20 points in four of them. He has helped the Wizards to a surprising 22-20 record for the season and continues to grow as a player. Hence, he deserved the rating boost.

While players don’t have much regard for NBA2K ratings, there are real signs of worry for the Lakers LeBron is left to be a solo act and Russ has barely shown up in games.
