Controversial WNBA star Brittney Griner has had a tough time growing up. She was always different from everyone, which gave people an avenue to bully her.
Her father, Raymond Griner, is very supportive of her daughter currently. However, this wasn’t always the case. Griner was quite close to her two sisters. She has a younger sister who is 10 years younger than her and an older sister who is 5 years older than her.

Although they were great to Griner, they did not participate in normal sibling activities like playing with each other. Pier, Brittney Griner’s elder sister is totally opposite to the WNBA star. According to Griner, Pier was girly while Brittney was ‘rough-and-tumble’.
Talking about her relationship with her parents and siblings in her book, Griner also talked about instances when she would make her sister cry which is why Pier did not like playing with her sister.
Griner wrote, “Pier didn’t like playing with me because I would usually end up doing something to make her cry. The little sister beat up the big sister.”

After Griner’s controversial arrest in Russia earlier this year, her younger sister opened up on her sister’s case. She addressed the media and gave her insights on Griner’s arrest and detainment.

It has been more than 200 days since Brittney Griner was arrested and detained in Russia for carrying illegal substances in her luggage. During this time, communication with her family has been tough.
Her younger sister, SheKera made an emotional appeal to the POTUS to help her sister. She said, “For 100 days I have not seen my Brit. It’s been totally gut-wrenching for myself and my family her mom and dad, my siblings, myself.”
Officials from both countries have been negotiating a prisoner swap deal that can potentially bring back Brittney Griner. However, negotiations have been tough and it has been taking time.
