“The Longest 5 Seconds of My Life”: Warriors Fans in Disbelief as Pistons Star Sinks GS With “Wild” Play in the Absence of Stephen Curry

After winning five games in a row, the Golden State Warriors were handed their first loss of the New Year at the hands of the Detroit Pistons. A game that was closely fought throughout the four quarters. The Pistons barely made it out with a win, defeating the Warriors by three points, 122-119 in the absence of their star player.

Stephen Curry is still out of the starting lineup for the Warriors. However, an update on Curry’s return was given by the head coach, Steve Kerr, earlier today. This loss sustained at the hands of the Pistons surely made Warriors fans miss their sharpshooter.

Warriors fans miss Stephen Curry

The game became intensely competitive and interesting in the final 30 seconds of the game. The Pistons led by one point which was increased to a three-point margin after Killian Hayes drained two crucial free throws.

However, the Warriors’ other half of the splash duo, Klay Thompson hit a three-point dagger to tie the game in the hopes of forcing it into overtime. Pistons forward, Saddiq Bey, had other plans in mind as he drained the game-winning three with just one second left on the clock.

Fans were left in disbelief as the game that could’ve been won in overtime just slipped out of the Dubs’ hands due to a game-winning buzzer-beater by Bey. One fan tweeted, “This game was wild.”

While another fan commented, “Longest 5 seconds of my life.”

Many fans speculated and blamed the officials for not calling a five-second violation on the last inbound play.

The short-handed Golden State Warriors have been nothing short of amazing without the presence of Stephen Curry on the floor. As expected, Klay Thompson has been giving it all to keep the team afloat.

Players like Jordan Poole, Ty Jerome, and Donte DiVincenzo have all risen to the occasion to help their team win. Head coach Steve Kerr has gotten amazing performances out of the majority of his role players in the absence of Curry.

And even with a majority of the Warriors’ players out due to injury, Golden State has been playing really well. So, it is only a matter of time before the Warriors may rise back to the top after Curry returns.
