Former Los Angeles Lakers player Carmelo Anthony is currently going through a tough phase of his life as the star might get separated from his wife La La Anthony and is also not a part of any NBA team as of now. The couple tied the knot in July 2010 and have a son who was born in 2007. About a decade later, in 2017, La La reportedly moved out and was living separately. A year later, the couple seemingly got back together. However, the happiness proved to be short-lived as La La filed for divorce in 2021. According to La La, Anthony’s trade to the New York Knicks was the major reason the couple separated.

?When we moved to New York?I?m from New York, so being back was nothing new?but when we lived here under all of that [pressure], that?s when things became complicated. Now that I look back, I think that was the start of the demise of the marriage,” said La La.

Why did Carmelo Anthony and La La Anthony’s marriage fall apart?

The Denver Nuggets selected Carmelo Anthony?in the 2003 NBA Draft as the 3rd overall pick. He played eight seasons with the Nuggets before he was traded off to the New York Knicks. While he only played for six seasons with the Knicks, it proved to be a significant period of his NBA career. While the basketball career was going great for the 10x NBA All-Star, his marriage slowly started weakening during that time.

La La said that the amount of attention the couple was getting was too much to handle. While she did not entirely blame the Knicks trade for her failed marriage, she said that going to New York sure did worsen their relationship. She could not bear the fact of being under a constant spotlight. Furthermore, she said that her ex-husband would often get into trouble in cities where one would think has nothing much going on.

She said, “Be careful with these other cities that you think don?t have as much going on, because those are the ones where the s**t is going down.

On the other hand, it had been almost a year since fans last saw Anthony on the court. As of now, the former Lakers player remains an unrestricted free agent and without a team. There have been no new developments regarding Melo’s deal with any of the teams. Thus, his future remains uncertain.
