The Los Angeles Clippers have had a mediocre-ish season so far. The team is placed sixth on the Western Conference table with a 36-33 win/loss record. The Clippers made changes to their roster in February this year, a notable addition being former Laker Russell Westbrook, but have failed to land victories despite having a pretty strong line-up.

Paul George, who has been with the Clippers since 2019, further broke down the LA side’s struggles on his podcast. However, the Clippers star expressed his satisfaction with the new roster and continued on a hopeful note. This comes after the recent criticism levelled by a Boston Celtics icon against the floundering side.

The Clippers are currently fighting for breath as their win-record deteriorates. Despite putting up a good fight in several close games, they just couldn’t cross the line as they played through multiple overtimes. The team’s consecutive losses prompted Celtics legend Paul Pierce to target their performance while speaking in an earlier podcast. The former NBA champion singled out the LA side’s lack of consistency through the season.

Seated with former teammate Kevin Garnett, Pierce said, “They had issues all year, inconsistent in the lineups…they had nothing consistent over there.

Pierce warned that the playoff berth could slip out of the Clippers’ hands if they failed to address their inconsistency. However, he noted Russell Westbrook’s role in the team’s offense as a positive sign. Interestingly, Paul George in his podcast also remarked on Westbrook being blamed by many observers for the Clippers’ defeats, despite the fact that he “was playing unbelievable.”

Paul George speaks about his teammates

A few days after Paul Pierce’s take on the Los Angeles Clippers’ form, Paul George opened up about his team’s recent trajectory. The team put up a handsome fight in several matchups but fell short of the target in almost every game. On an episode of Podcast P with Paul George, he addressed the close losses that the Clippers have endured in recent matchups, including how Russell Westbrook’s debut game with the Clippers ended in heartbreak, while playing against the Sacremento Kings

The 8x NBA champion also went over their defeat at the Denver Nuggets‘ home. He described the toll that the pressure of scoring through multiple overtimes exerts on players’ stamina. He added that the team felt physically exhausted as well from keeping up with the pace at which the Kings played and from the altitude at Denver.

Notably, he took the time to appreciate his team’s current roster, and emphasized their camaraderie. He explained, “Greatest thing about this team and adding the new edition guys is that like there’s no a******s on the team.” He noted that everyone on the squad saw themselves as part of the team and did not put themselves above the team while addressing issues.
