The Phoenix Suns entered the last two playoffs as the favorites to win it all. However, they have failed at winning the title on both occasions which have been ridiculed and criticized all over the NBA world. Suns’ superstar Devin Booker has been at the center of all the attention during those losses and the focus of all the media and public scrutiny. Moreover, his antics against the Dallas Mavericks last season also brought in a lot of hate and was made fun of across the internet.

During a recent interview with The Athletic, the three-time NBA All-Star touched upon dealing with hate. According to him, hate is something that everyone has to face, even legends like LeBron James and Stephen Curry. Moreover, due to his status as a well-known NBA star, he has made peace with certain facts.

Devin Booker discusses receiving hate in a recent interview

Not very long ago, Booker was touted as the next Kobe Bryant and was loved across the league. However, his antics over the years and the failure to win a title have garnered a lot of hate towards him. While talking to The Athletic, he discussed the topic of hate and how he deals with it. Booker revealed that he has made peace with the fact that due to his position, there are bound to be haters.

He said, “I just realized the situation. Now, I’m more on the bigger stage, where people know about me, so there’s gonna be more haters. That’s life. There’s people that hate on LeBron James and Steph Curry — still, to this day. So once you embrace that (reality) and just realize that there’s different types of people, you get it. There’s haters, and there’s supporters.”

When asked whether the hate slows him down and affects his hunger to win in any way, Booker promptly replied that the hunger still stays the same. With a long career ahead of him, the Suns’ star has a lot to improve and a lot to win. And looking at his answers, hate is something that will not be bothering him anytime soon.

How have the Suns performed this season?

The Phoenix Suns had the best record during the regular season of the 2021-22 season. However, that is not the case this year. After 41 games, they are currently 8th in the Western Conference.

Booker is averaging 27.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 5.6 assists this season. Veteran point guard Chris Paul has had a decent season so far with 13.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 8.3 assists.
