“They Did Me a Favor”: Nearly $200 Million Deal for Charles Barkley Years After His Retirement Leaves the NBA Legend Humbled

Even though NBA legend Charles Barkley has retired for quite some time, he is still one of the most loved NBA analysts on TV today. Barkley is an analyst on the TNT show ‘Inside The NBA’. And as the news broke about the ‘Inside The NBA’ crew getting a contract extension, fans could not be happier. 

But it looks like Charles Barkley is someone that is the most sought-after analyst among them. Recently, Barkley appeared on ‘The Dan Patrick Show’ and discussed the new deal he ended up signing with TNT

Charles Barkley gets a massive contract with TNT

And according to sources, Barkley has signed a 10-year deal with TNT that would pay him a nine-figure salary. The exact amount is still not disclosed but it is reported to be a minimum of $100 million and could potentially reach the $200 million mark as well.

The Inside The NBA show consists of Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, Kenny ‘The Jet’ Smith, and host Ernie Johnson. The show started airing during the 1989-90 season but since the addition of these former NBA players, it has become a huge hit among fans.

Recently, Warner Bros. announced that they had come to a long-term agreement with all four analysts and would keep this family strong and going. And now that Barkley has signed a huge extension, things may be going the same way with others too.

While talking to Patrick on his show, he asked Barkley how the LIV Tour negotiations affected his decision in making a deal with TNT. And Barkley told him, “Zero.” Barkley narrated how TNT asked him to stay on for a couple of more years.

“Well, you guys have been great to me, I’ll stay on a couple more years. And I mean there’s probably zero chance that I’ll stay for the entire ten years,” Barkley said while being candid with Dan.

Barkley is not going away anytime soon

“But they’ve been great to me and I wanted to do something for them and they did me a favor,” said Barkley. the 11-time ALL-Star has often hinted that he would like to retire at the age of 60. Even on the show, he said, “I don’t want to work till the day I drop dead.” And since he is 59 right now, seems as if he will keep going for at least a couple more years.

Analysts in other sports tend to make large amounts as well. Partick talked about NFL analysts Tony Romo and Troy Aikman who make around $18 million a year. And already an NFL legend, Tom Brady is set to make $375 million as an analyst over 10 years with Fox Sports whenever he chooses to retire from the game.
