Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union are among the picture-perfect duos of the NBA. Married for six years, the star duo is one of the most popular couples. The pair has gone through many ups and downs. The separation between Wade and Funches was ugly. Filing for the divorce in 2007, a contentious battle ensued which lasted for six years. In 2011, the Miami Heat legend got custody of both his kids. While he described it as the best day of his life, Wade told Winfrey that Zaire and Zaya didn’t ask for any of it. Moreover, he even encourages them to meet their mother and keep a loving relationship.

D-Wade said: “I can do nothing but look at them and think about me because they look like me. Just think about the life I want to give them. They didn’t ask for me and their mom to be in this battle.”

Since the divorce, both Zaire and Zaya have grown in their ways. With Flash as his father, 20-year-old Zaire is looking to follow the path. Joining the Utah Jazz’s G-League affiliate, he is on his unique basketball journey. However, Wade has been hard on his eldest. He showed him the true value of work when he battled Zaire in a one-on-one.

As for Zaya, she has been a teacher to both Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union. She taught the pair about gender change. However, D-Wade and Gabrielle have always been incredibly supportive. Notably, he recently helped Zaya change her name and gender legally.
