In 1979, Magic Johnson moved to the City of Angeles to embark on his journey as a part of the Los Angeles Lakers team. This journey saw the highest of highs and the lowest of lows and was nothing short of a roller coaster ride for the legendary guard. Through these years of joy and turmoil, Johnson found a place in the conversation to decide the league’s greatest players. However, basketball aside, the city gave him friendships and relationships that would last a lifetime. Johnson’s friendship with Oscar-winning Actor Samuel L. Jackson is one such friendship and each year, fans get to see more of their bromance.

For years now, Johnson and Jackson have had a tradition of spending the summer together. They do so on a Yacht and explore different countries around the world. Some of the countries they have visited together are Greece, France, and Italy, among others. With that said, in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Samuel Jackson opened up about going on a vacation with the NBA Legend and feeling invisible in the presence of the Lakers legend.

Samuel L. Jackson on holidaying with Magic Johnson

During the episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live,  Kimmel showed the audience some photographs from Jackson and Johnson’s adventures together. As they navigated through each photo, the Hollywood star revealed that these holidays are planned by the five-time NBA Champion.

Samuel L. Jackson stated that since Magic Johnson is a worldwide sensation, everyone tends to recognize him easily. Jackson also claimed that considering the Hall of Famers’ size and fame, he gets recognized first always. In other words, alongside Johnson, Jackson feels almost invisible most of the times.

He revealed, “They don’t even notice me until somebody will finally look over and go, oh, my god, it’s, Samuel Lee Jackson.”  The Academy winner also revealed that Magic Johnson is the “friendliest” guy when it comes to taking pictures with fans.

In another episode on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the duo once again spoke about the holiday scene with Magic Johnson. Here, Jackson stated that their holidays last for about a month but he only spends the first two weeks on Johnson’s yacht. He said, “I just rent another boat so my daughter and her friends can kick it in the summer.” Furthermore, each year, there are new guests on board, but Jackson is a constant.

Why do Magic Johnson’s holidays last for a month?

As per Yahoo Sports, the 12-time NBA All-Star loves traveling to Europe. Hence for 31 years now, the Johnson family with their friends travel to different parts of Europe every year. As mentioned previously, these holidays last for almost a month.

Johnson once revealed that there is a reason for this. After working hard all year, he said, “We went on vacation for two weeks, and I said, man, that’s not enough. So the next year, we did three weeks.  That wasn’t enough.”  Hence, one month seemed to be the perfect time to spend away from LA.
