The Chicago Bulls made their biggest step towards making the NBA championship dream come true when they drafted Michael Jordan in 1984. MJ helped the Bulls win six championship rings and they have not won a championship since he left the team in 1998.
The level of fierceness that Jordan possessed was greater than most players to have played the game. However, Michael Jordan was quite unforgiving in situations of failure, and he made it known. Once, 17-time Grammy Nominee Brian McKnight admitted to backing down from an opportunity to play alongside Michael Jordan for a hubristic reason.

Despite being from Buffalo, it is surprising McKnight was a huge Chicago Bulls fan. The 53-year-old suggested that he became a Bulls fan after watching Michael Jordan play in high school. Further, McKnight shared that he was the biggest Bulls fan from 1984-1998. He witnessed the crucial transformation of the Bulls in 1987 when coach Phil Jackson, Scottie Pippen, and Horace Grant joined the franchise.
Michael Jordan trashed NBA stars like children
McKnight also talked about getting a chance to play with Michael Jordan in 1995 during a 2019 interview. MJ stepped away from NBA in 1993. He decided to try his hand at baseball and joined the Birmingham Barons in the minor league. However, following a baseball strike, Jordan started working on his movie Space Jam. The film’s producers built the Bulls legend a gym with a full court, the best equipment, and an 18-hole putting green golf course.
MJ’s active teammates from the Bulls once came down to play with him, despite his retirement from the league. McKnight was present during the visit and wanted to play with all the Bulls stars. However, the famous musician decided to back down after seeing how MJ treated his teammates who failed to make a shot. The host asked McKnight how did the 14-time All-Star treat them. Brian McKnight replied, “Like they were his children.”
Another reason the singer-songwriter backed out was because he had a reputation of being a decent player. And he didn’t want to tarnish it in front of Michael Jeffrey Jordan and other NBA stars.
