It once seemed the season of the Brooklyn Nets had only downfall. Ben Simmons dealt with constant injuries throughout. In addition, the entire Kyrie Irving saga left Kevin Durant all alone. The superstar trio looked broken with very little hope of every gathering. However, there was hope. And Brooklyn has since turned things around in a short span. Likewise, seeing the come-up of the potential sleeping giants, Shaquille O’Neal believes the Nets can’t be counted out just yet.

The Nets have had to deal with immense drama and scrutiny this season. The most notable was arguably Irving’s antisemitic debacle. The seven-time All-Star shared a controversial documentary that came under intense scrutiny for its antisemitic material. Even the franchise looked away from KAI until he fulfilled certain remedial clauses. Most experts even felt the time for Irving in Brooklyn had come to an end. However, ever since he returned with the Slim Reaper, the Nets have looked like a completely transformed unit.

Not only is Irving playing at a high level, but Simmons is arguably playing his best basketball. On the other hand, Kevin Durant is showing the world he is still one of the most dangerous players on the planet. And their recent performances have surely caught the eye of NBA legend, Shaquille O’Neal.

Shaquille O’Neal isn’t ready to give up on the Nets just yet

On the latest episode of ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq’, the Big Diesel analyzed the Brooklyn Nets‘ recent return to form. Notably, the franchise has won five of its last seven games. In addition, Shaq was also impressed with fellow LSU member, Ben Simmons. In the past, the four-time champion has been hard on the 6’10” point guard. However, with his impressive run for the last few games, even Shaq gave him his props. The Los Angeles Lakers icon also believes Brooklyn’s “weapons” can’t be overlooked so early.

“KD Want Him Out Too”: Nets Star’s ‘Ironic’ Advice to Kevin Durant Leaves NBA Fans in Disbelief

Shaquille O’Neal said: “Nobody’s counting out Brooklyn because of the weapons. I made a comment early in the year, ‘You got two and a half’. But Ben’s starting to come around. So all three guys at full strength getting 20-30 games together on their belt, they start playing with some camaraderie. I think they are going to be a dangerous team.”

Arguably the Nets’ most lethal weapon, the Slim Reaper has been nuclear in the last couple of games. Kevin Durant has scored over 25 points in seven of his last 10 games this season. Moreover, he is coming off a season-high 45-point night in the win against the Orlando Magic. KAI is yet to get into his complete groove since returning, putting up 24.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game so far this season. However, the biggest impact maker has probably been Ben Simmons. The once DPOY candidate has contributed big time on the offensive end scoring double figures in six of his last eight games.
