Michael Jordan has been toying with the thought of selling off his majority stake in the Hornets for a while now. Every month, there has been a huge rush of rumors indicating that the sale is about to be finished. However, it never moved past that. Now, as per a senior NBA Insider for ESPN, this could be it for His Airness and the Hornets.

Michael Jordan is to sell his NBA team

After making and breaking several records on the court, Jordan continued the trend in his post-retirement career as well. With his ownership of the Hornets franchise, he became the only majority Black owner in the league. For 13 years, he has held that position and is now looking to sell it off.

This is well reasoned too as the franchise’s performance in the league has been poor, to say the least. However, despite the subpar performances, no disadvantage was met by His Airness personally. His wealth, with and without the team, has continued to grow as the years went by.

Now with the possible sale of his franchise, valued at $3 billion, Jordan’s billion-dollar net worth is only going to increase. As per reports, the 6x NBA champion is finalizing the documents to hand over the team to someone else. Adrian Wojnarowski, senior NBA Insider for ESPN posted the Hornets’ information on Twitter recently.

He said, “Michael Jordan is finalizing a sale of the Charlotte Hornets to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall, ending his 13-year run as majority owner.” If this deal goes through, it will be one of the biggest newsmakers of recent times as various athletes are being linked to the Hornets amidst trade rumors and the NBA Draft buzz.
