After a disappointing defeat in game 1, the Phoenix Suns recorded a comfortable victory on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. Apart from leveling the series, an interesting stat took center stage after the game. The stat involved a 9-year-long curse that had been on Chris Paul‘s back as he finally managed to overcome it on Tuesday. Along with Paul, Suns stars Devin Booker and Kevin Durant lifted the ante for the perfect comeback.

In his 18-season-long career, Paul has represented multiple franchises and has a rich experience in playoffs. However, the star hasn’t won an NBA championship yet and the curse could be one of the reasons behind it. Over the years, the fans have trolled him for the same reason. The 37-year-old star has finally broken his jinx and would now fancy his chances for a championship this season.

Chris Paul breaks the jinx

The 9-year-old curse that had been following Chris Paul was about the veteran NBA official Scott Foster. Paul had lost the last 13 playoff games whenever Foster had officiated the game. Moreover, the Suns star has a record 2-17 record in playoffs when Foster officiated and 70-54 whenever he didn’t.

Moreover, Suns’ star Devin Booker also had issues with the foul calls made by Foster. Notably, the Suns average the lowest in free throw points. Especially after a game against the Los Angeles Lakers where the Suns lost to a disappointing 122-111 game.

The Lakers scored 36 points out of 46 free throws. Chris Paul expressed his displeasure with the officiating of the game. In response to the free throw issue, Booker said, “I understand the agendas that are being pushed and trying to just get that out of my head and go out there and compete,” after the game.

However, on a positive note, Paul broke his 13-game losing streak on Tuesday night’s game. The Suns sealed a comfortable 123-109 victory over the Clippers. Paul dropped 16 points in his 38 minutes of game time, whereas Durant and Booker dropped 25 and 38, respectively.
