The winner-takes-all game of the Eastern Conference Finals is hours away. Amid the post-season, however, trade rumors and the 2023 NBA draft have taken center stage. The Chicago Bulls, who failed to get a ticket to the postseason, have caught the attention of many after a ‘private’ Lonzo Ball update has come to light.

The point guard has been having an uncanny tryst with injuries in Chicago. Last year, the 25-year-old had a very brief playing stint with the Bulls on the back of recurring injuries and physical difficulties. Earlier this year, the same maladies came to taunt Ball.

Private Chicago Bulls update about Lonzo Ball becomes public

The going got tough for Lonzo Ball in Chicago after he was diagnosed with a knee injury in 2022. Ball had to undergo surgery and was out for around eight weeks. Once he got back to the court, long engagements on the court aggravated his pain and he was forced to rehabilitate. In February, this season, the Bulls announced that Ball will be out for the remainder of the season. The 25-year-old had to go through another surgery in March.

On the back of the procedure, the point guard was ruled out of a significant part of the upcoming season. Besides, word got out that the procedure can even force Ball to retire. Turns out Lonzo Ball might not return to the hardwood again. Now, a Chicago Bulls beat writer, Dan Bernstein has reported the Bulls don’t believe the 25-year-old will ever play again as no player has returned to the league after going through a cartilage transplant in NBA history.
