“This Is What True Royalty Looks Like”: NBA World Left in Awe as Future King of England: Prince William and Kate Middleton Bear Witness to Jayson Tatum’s Monster Night

It is one thing for basketball royalty to take the stage. It is another thing altogether when actual royalty graces the stage. The Prince and Princess of Wales were at the TD Garden. Their surprise appearance stunned the NBA world as the Boston Celtics took on the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.

The royal couple arrived in the US for a three-day visit. Their official agendas included speaking at the Earthshot Prize awards slotted for Friday. But they managed to squeeze in to see an NBA match. They were received by the lead owner of the Boston Celtics, Wycliffe Grousebeck. Other eminent personalities that also joined were Massachusetts Governor-Elect Maura Healey and Celtics legend Thomas Sanders.

It was reported that the future king and queen of England were eager to meet the fans. Furthermore, fans expressed their excitement and surprise on social media. One user wrote, “This is what true royalty looks like“.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were also set to meet authorities from the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation which helped local organizations serve the needy. They would also zone in on the neonatal and mothers’ care at the Boston Medical Center as well. This marked their first trip to the United States since 2014.

During a speech at the Boston City Hall, Prince William spoke about his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. He described her as being “one of life’s optimists”. He continued, “I would like to thank the people of Massachusetts and particularly of Boston for their many tributes paid to the late Queen.”

The British royalty also shared a BTS photo of the Celtics before the game and captioned it, “Let’s go Celtics, let’s go!” In the end, the royal couple witnessed a masterclass from Jayson Tatum, who led his Boston Celtics team to a 134-121- win over the Miami Heat. Tatum scored 49 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists in 39 minutes on the court. The Celtics are top of the Eastern Conference table with an 18-4 record so far this season.
