The NBA off-season is in full swing and fans have already witnessed a lot of drama. Teams around the league have been making moves, hoping to bolster their rosters for the upcoming season. The Boston Celtics are one of those teams who have made a slew of additions, most recently acquiring a seasoned veteran.

The Celtics added Blake Griffin to the squad, who put pen to a veteran’s minimum deal for the 2022/23 season. The news of Ime Udoka’s suspension has had the franchise and its fans go through an emotional rollercoaster. However, the acquisition of Griffin certainly offers them a reason to rejoice.

Griffin spent two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, where he made a lasting impression as a veteran presence. He took a backseat for the welfare of the team. Despite this, the forward’s grit and determination were on display every night, as he fought and dove for loose balls and brought a burst of energy to the floor.

Now, the former first overall draft pick in 2009 brings his talents to TD Garden. This is his fourth stop after his stints with the Los Angeles Clippers, the Detroit Pistons, and the Brooklyn Nets.

A few weeks ago, the Celtics’ frontcourt looked locked and ready to wreak havoc. The squad features some quality big men in the mix, including Al Horford, Robert Williams III, Danilo Gallinari, and Grant Williams. However, Gallinari suffered a ruptured ACL, and Williams III is expected to be sidelined for two months after undergoing knee surgery last week.

As injuries mounted, the Celtics refused to back down. In fact, they brought in Griffin, a multifaceted player capable of providing considerable versatility up front.

NBA fans react to the Celtics bringing in Blake Griffin

Blake Griffin used to be a bonafide star in the league a few years ago. His ability to take flight and demolish opposing defenders with his consistent posterizes was well renowned in the NBA.

In addition, as the years passed, he polished his offensive game and added additional weaponry to his offensive arsenal. However, recurring knee and back injuries derailed his career and robbed him of his freakish athleticism. Nonetheless, he has settled into and embraced his new role as a seasoned veteran.
