The US Government has been on its toes ever since controversial WNBA star Brittney Griner got arrested in Russia. Although she has been sentenced to nine years in prison, all hope is not lost as US authorities can still bring her back by striking a deal with Russia.

However, negotiations have been slow which has prompted people across the country to question the government’s efforts. Recently, popular comedian Kat Williams addressed the Griner issue during one of his live shows. And he had to use very strong language to properly express his thoughts on the matter.

The 51-year-old seemed very agitated with the US government as they struggled to bring back Griner despite being one of the most powerful nations in the entire world. He further elaborated on the issue during his monologue on the matter.

Popular comedian addresses Brittney Griner situation in a funny way

Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner has the whole world talking about her since her arrest. On the 17th of February, officials detained her in an airport near Moscow under drug trafficking charges.

Currently, she is serving her sentence in one of the harshest prisons in the world. According to reports, she will be spending her time at the IK-2 penal colony located in Russia’s Mordovia. Officials have been negotiating a potential prisoner swap deal for months now. However, considering the complexity of the case, negotiations have been slow from both sides.

This has clearly agitated people across the world. The same can be said about popular comedian Kat Williams who addressed the whole situation during one of his sets. He said, “This supposed to be the greatest country in the motherf**king world. You mean, we can’t go and get our b**ch?”

Williams harped on Griner’s minority status and demanded her swift release from the ‘worst m**therf**king prison‘ in the world. The crowd reacted with cheers and the occasional giggle to his rant.

Incidentally, former Marine Paul Whelan is also held in a penal colony located in the same region. His name has been on the news for the past few months as he potentially can return back home with Griner.

Talks are progressing over a swap deal

A prisoner swap deal pretty much remains to be Brittney Griner’s last hope. In case the officials successfully negotiate, arms dealer Viktor Bout will be sent back to Russia. On the other hand, Griner and Whelan would come back home safely.

Recently, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the United States is actively engaged with Russia over the swap deal. A few months back, Blinken had announced that the US had put forth a proposal to Russia to bring back Griner and Whelan.
