“This Town Gets Me Off”: After Dismantling Iconic NBA Franchise, Dennis Rodman Revealed What Made Him “So Jacked” in 1995

Dennis Rodman is popularly identified as a Chicago Bulls legend or one for the Detroit Pistons. But some fans would remember his stint in the San Antonio Spurs before joining the Bulls. Although without a ring, his brief stay in San Antonio wasn’t any less exciting. Rodman famously transitioned into an ultra-famous media personality during the time because he was “bored”. Although Dennis the Menace enjoyed beating his bitter rivals, he also went on to play for them later in life. He once described his feelings while beating his future NBA team. 

Rodman loved to beat the Chicago Bulls as a part of the Detroit Pistons. Similarly winning in Los Angeles was his source of excitement even though fate would land him playing at the Los Angeles Lakers

The Worm was at a different stage in life with the San Antonio Spurs and was enjoying his wild and eccentric life. Back in 1995, Rodman was interviewed just before the Western Conference Finals. 

In an article in Sports Illustrated, Rodman was asked how he felt about the upcoming Conference finals. Although he didn’t bother about it much, he did have some thoughts on the semi-finals that they won against the Lakers.

The Worm and the Spurs had just won their semi-final series by 4-2 against the Lakers. Rodman’s favorite part was beating them at their home. The iconic franchise’s stadium is a dream place to perform for many, and the history of the city does add to it. 

The five-time NBA Champion did go on to play for the Lakers as well, but it was a disappointing stint. The Worm couldn’t compete with the youngsters and left after a brief time in L.A. Shaq even named him the “worst teammate” that he had.

Although Rodman’s brief stints at some teams haven’t been so impressive, his rebound stats still amaze people.

Why was Rodman called the rebound king?

Although his stats at the Bulls and Pistons are none to be complained about, many forget his stats at other teams. With the Spurs, he averaged 17.8 RPG. The Worm averaged 11.6 Rebounds Per game for the Lakers, aged 37.

While in Chicago the five-time NBA Champion became the oldest to lead the league in rebounding.  A feat which stands till this day.
